Crypto accounting that actually reconciles

A SAICA-qualified accounting practice in Cape Town, built on experience that goes back to 2018, two of those years spent working inside a cryptocurrency business rather than reading about one. Crypto reconciliation, monthly bookkeeping, annual financial statements and CIPC compliance — one accountable person, fixed fees agreed upfront.

How it works

Three steps, no jargon

  1. Free consultation

A short call to understand your situation — what you hold, what you trade, what state the records are in. No charge, no obligation, no pressure.

  2. Fixed quote and scope

You receive a written scope and a fixed fee before any work starts. No hourly surprises and no invoice that arrives with an explanation attached.

  3. Reconciled and kept current

We do the work and give you records you can rely on, then keep them current rather than letting them drift again.

The specialism

Most accountants have read about crypto. We have reconciled it.

A single active trader can generate tens of thousands of transactions across several exchanges, wallets and protocols. Exports disagree with one another, transfers between your own wallets look like sales, and cost bases vanish when a platform closes. We rebuild all of it into records that hold together.

Exchange & wallet reconciliation

Every exchange and wallet you have used, brought together and reconciled into one set of records.

Cost bases & rand valuation

Cost bases reconstructed where the paperwork is gone, and every leg valued in rands on the day it happened, from a documented price source.

An audit trail behind every figure

A reconciled register and supporting schedules, so every number can be traced back to where it came from, years later.

What we do

A complete accounting function for a small business

Crypto is the specialism. Everything else a South African owner-managed business needs to keep its records straight and its filings current sits alongside it.

Monthly bookkeeping & management accounts

Bank and card transactions processed and reconciled, supplier and customer ledgers maintained, control accounts agreed, and a monthly pack that tells you what changed and why — not a trial balance emailed without comment.

Built on Xero. Your records stay visible to you, from anywhere.

Annual financial statements

Annual financial statements compiled from your records for your financial year end.

Accepted by CIPC, banks, funders and buyers.

Business setup & CIPC compliance

Company registration and name reservation, share issue and securities register, beneficial ownership filings, annual returns, director and address changes, and statutory records kept in order.

Behind with CIPC? Outstanding returns can be brought up to date.

Digital assets on the balance sheet

For businesses that hold, accept or pay in crypto: classification, measurement and the disclosure that has to stand up in your annual financial statements, alongside your ordinary monthly bookkeeping.

Catch-up work

Months or years behind is the most common way people arrive here. It is quoted separately from any ongoing arrangement, and the sooner it starts the more of the underlying data is still recoverable.

Why Lodestar

A small practice, deliberately

You deal directly with the person doing the work, so an answer comes back from someone who already knows the file, not from an inbox that has to go and ask.

  • Genuine crypto experience. Two years as in-house accountant for a cryptocurrency business, not a weekend course.
  • General practice behind it. Accounting experience going back to 2018, so the crypto specialism sits on top of ordinary practice work rather than in place of it.
  • SAICA-qualified. Associate General Accountant, AGA(SA), bound by a professional code and continuing education requirements.
  • Straight answers. If something is uncertain, we say so and explain why, instead of presenting a guess as a certainty.

Who we work with

Any small business or individual who needs an accountant. Crypto is a specialism, not a restriction — most of the work is ordinary accounting.

  • Small businesses and owner-managed companies
  • Startups and early-stage founders
  • Independent contractors and consultants
  • Sole proprietors and individuals
  • Tech and IT professionals
  • Crypto holders, traders and businesses accepting digital assets

Where we work

Cape Town in person, South Africa remotely

Face-to-face meetings across Cape Town and the Southern Suburbs by arrangement, and everything else handled remotely for clients anywhere in the country.

Cape Town and Southern Suburbs

Constantia · Claremont · Newlands · Kenilworth · Wynberg · Tokai · Gardens · Sea Point · Green Point · Cape Town CBD

Remote, nationwide

Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Gqeberha and everywhere between. Everything runs through Xero and secure document sharing, so distance changes nothing about the quality of the work.

How we actually work together

Video call, email or WhatsApp, whichever suits you. Shared Xero access means we are both looking at the same numbers, so most questions are settled in minutes rather than scheduled into a meeting.

Before you call

The practical questions

What does it cost?

Every engagement is quoted as a fixed fee after the free consultation. The work varies enormously — a hundred trades on one exchange is a different exercise to six years across four platforms — so a price list would be misleading. You will always have the number in writing before anything starts.

My records are years behind. Is that a problem?

It is common and it is fixable, and it is the most frequent reason people get in touch. Bring it to the consultation as it is rather than trying to tidy it up first — the raw position is more useful to quote on.

What happens at the consultation?

You describe the situation and we tell you what is actually involved — which sometimes means saying the work is smaller than you feared, and sometimes that it is larger. Either way you hear it before you commit to anything.

Let's get your records in order

A free, no-obligation consultation. We will tell you honestly whether you need us.
